When starting the engine after a day’s break the oil inside the engine completely settles in the engine oil sump. So when your engine is cold, revving it hard and big throttle openings cause a lot of wear and damage. Hence warm up gently by slightly revving up. This increases the oil flow to spread uniformly into the engine parts and prevents damage to the engine. Good lubricants contain special anti-wear additives to protect the engine during the critical warm-up period. You can still help it out by taking things easy until it's fully warmed up. then ride slower than usual for a few miles.
CLEAN THE SPARK PLUG REGULARLY
Every 750 km for two-stroke bike and every 1,500 km for four-stroke bike. Clean spark points (electrodes) with emery paper.
KEEP THE CARBURETOR CLEAN
Every 1500 km, clean out the carburetor float chamber and other parts. Clean jets by forcing compressed air through them.
BATTERY
The motorcycle battery needs periodical maintenance to ensure a long and trouble free life. Check the electrolyte level against the top and bottom markings on the battery shell. Always top up with distilled water whenever required.
Check for any leakage from battery. It should be clean and free from any leakages. In case of non-use of motorcycle, battery should be kept fully charged and electrolyte level should be at Top mark.
CHAIN ALLIGNMENT:
Proper chain allignment is necessary for better ride quality. An over tight or loose setting leads to wear and tear of chain and sprocket and also affects the mileage. Ensure correct tension of chain and proper lubrication for hassle free rides. Nowadays a lot of bikes comes without a fully enclosed chain casings. In that case it is very essential to maintain the chain. Lot of lubricants and chain waxes are available in the market. Inspect the chain once in three weeks. Wash the chain and remove the dirt and debries and after that apply the chian wax or lubricant.
