Yamaha Ray - Overview & Specs..


Yamaha Motor India has finally launched its first stylish new scooter Ray. It’s the Yamaha’s first scooter model to enter into the Indian scooter segment. The Ray is very stylish, youthful and sporty. Earlier this year Ray was unveiled in New Delhi auto expo and has finally hit the markets now. The Ray’s seat height and other features were primarily focused on female riders. Hopefully the style of this scooter looks cool comparatively to the recently launched competitors like Suzuki swish, Honda Dio and Mahindra Rodeo.

Fully synthetic engine oil - Advantage & Benefits.

There are 3 types of motor oil or engine oil used for the lubrication of engine. Engine oil is the most vital and essential one for an engine to function properly. The three types in general are mineral oil - derived from petroleum based products, fully synthetic - completely artificial and synthesized in labs. semi-synthetic- a blend of synthetic and mineral oil in definite proportions. 

Generally an engine oil has many benefits like lubricating the engine, carries away the heat produced during operation, reduces friction, wear and tear of the internal components and keeping the engine clean, free from sludge combustion and carbon deposits.

The advantage of Ducati's desmo valve system.

Ducati - the one brand for best in class motorcycles has a special place in hearts among bike lovers and racers. Unlike when compared to other brands, Ducati bikes are always sportier and has superior distinct performance. This unique performance is due to a completely new approach and design of engine, its components and the framework of the motorcycle. I think that's the reason behind for its ultimate performance and also its cost against other superbikes. The Ducati is the only bike in market and in MotoGP championships to be equipped with a 4 cylinder V-twin type engine using a different valve train . The other competitors like Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda employ a 4 cylinder inline type engine in all their superbikes. Plus the Ducati's engines uses its own patented valve system called as desmodromic valve system which is responsible in part for its spectacular performance.

Nitrous Oxide Systems - A boost for your ride.

NOS or nitrous oxide - a familiar name among drag racers and those who are crazy about speed and power. This gas also called as laughing gas, was once used as an anesthetic for minor surgeries, yet now being widely used in automobiles and other propulsion systems. Many would have seen NOS system in action while racing in  the movie- fast and furious. Due to its superb property as an oxidizer, this gas is used in boosting up the performance of bikes and cars. Along with instant acceleration it also increases the horsepower of  engines. A nitrous oxide system is one which delivers NOS with right quantity to the engine. Generally air is required to burn the fuel inside the engine.

MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike - The bike with helicopter engine.

MTT Y2K turbine superbike is the world's most fastest, expensive and street legal production motorcycle. The exceptional feature of this bike is that it uses a helicopter engine to power itself.  MTT stands for Marine Turbine Technologies and is the only company to manufacture this superbike. The entire bike was hand crafted and it takes about 3k man hours to build one complete motorcycle. Each year the company produces about 4-5 motorcycles. Each motorcycle costs about a whooping 185,000 $ (USD) that comes nearly 92 lakh rupees according to INR.

Traction control - The technology which provides stability to your ride.

Almost all super bikes and cars nowadays are using a traction control system to maintain an excellent stability and also to provide better safety. I came across the word "Traction control" recently in a magazine. In that it was stated that all the race bikes which are being used in MotoGP races are equipped with a traction control system to assist better stability while cornering and sudden acceleration. Apart from that many top end cars also uses some kind of electronically controlled stability modules attached to it to maintain maximum stability and safety while if the driving situation goes out of control. The advantages of using a Nitrox suspension - Gas charged suspensions.

The rear shock absorbers on current Bajaj Pulsar series bikes are also popularly known as NITROX shock absorbers. These types of shock absorbers are actually called as ‘Gas Filled Shock Absorbers’. The visual differentiation between a conventional shock absorber and a gas filled shock absorber is a small canister (box) which is attached on one side of it. This canister holds a small amount of Nitrogen gas in it. Hence these hydraulic shock absorbers or dampers are called as gas filled shock absorbers. So what is the reason to use a gas filled hydraulic dampers instead of using a conventional one? we'll find out the answer here.

Öhlins Launches The World’s First Replacement Electronic Suspension Package

Öhlins has become the first company to offer an upgraded electronic suspension system, replacing the electronically adjustable suspension on the BMW R1200GS and interacting directly with the bike’s ECU and existing user interface. The Öhlins system also has a semi-active function, automatically adjusting the bike’s damping in relation to its speed.

Öhlins has been at the forefront of development of electronically adjustable suspension and has a whole department dedicated to this rapidly advancing technology. Labelled under the heading ‘Mechatronic’, which is an amalgamation of the words mechanical and electronic, this department helped create one of the World’s first production electronic suspension systems, found on the Ducati Multistrada.

Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) - Technology.

Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) is a new technology that controls the working of suspension system of a vehicle electronically.  Normally the suspensions of a bike or a car works mechanically and they are not controlled by any other means. They work according to a predefined alignment once fixed. But in the Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) system, the valves inside the suspension are controlled electronically which enables to close and open itself according to different riding situations for providing better stability and comfortable ride.

Actually an intercooler is an additional component fixed to a turbo charger to improve its performance and efficiency. Ram air induction - explained

                                               
A ram air induction is similar to the technology behind the turbochargers. A turbocharger as we all know it forces the air into the engine to increase its efficiency and performance with the help of burnt exhaust gases coming out from the engine. Last year 2011 the 125th year of the first automobile was commemorated as the world automobile day. The first automobile was called as Benz motorwagen having a patent #37435. January 29, 1886 became the starting point of the automobile evolution as many new innovations were made successfully on the following years.

Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) - Explained

For an engine needs to work it requires energy from fuel, whether it may be petrol, diesel or any other alternative fuels. Electronic fuel injection is a kind of fuel delivery system or feeding of fuel to the engine in a electronically controlled environment.

It is similar to a computerized delivery of fuel supply to the engine. A computer here in the sense is a small micro controller (a microprocessor and a control unit).
