MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike - The bike with helicopter engine.

MTT Y2K turbine superbike is the world's most fastest, expensive and street legal production motorcycle. The exceptional feature of this bike is that it uses a helicopter engine to power itself.  MTT stands for Marine Turbine Technologies and is the only company to manufacture this superbike. The entire bike was hand crafted and it takes about 3k man hours to build one complete motorcycle. Each year the company produces about 4-5 motorcycles. Each motorcycle costs about a whooping 185,000 $ (USD) that comes nearly 92 lakh rupees according to INR.

The MTT Y2K superbike is the world's first turbine powered street legal motorcycle in its class, and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the "Most Powerful Motorcycle Ever to Enter Series Production" and the "Most Expensive Production Motorcycle". The Y2K is powered by a Rolls Royce Allison gas turbine engine, and the superbike has demonstrated over 300 hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque on the Dyno Jet 200 test, and has been clocked at a record-breaking 230 mph (371kph).

It also represents latest engineering & technology. The entire bike features carbon fiber fairings, a rear mounted camera with LCD color display, forward-and rear-looking radar detector with laser scrambler, one touch "Smart Start" ignition and more.

Unlike some earlier jet-powered motorcycles, where a massive jet engine provided thrust to push the motorcycle, the turboshaft engine on this model drives the rear wheel via a two-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The engine weighs just 63 kilograms which is well suited for a motorcycle.

Rolls-Royce Allison Model 250 turboshaft engine.
The engines used in these motorcycles are second-hand, having reached the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) running time limit, after which they have to be rebuilt, regardless of condition. This bike can use kerosene which is usually used as a fuel for turbine engines and also diesel and jet aviation fuel.

The MTT Y2K's exhausts put out a 650°C exhaust. The 2 speed automatic gearbox is controlled from the handlebars. It also features a carbon fibre seat fairing and fuel tank unit with fuel capacity of 34 litres. This bike don't have rear view mirrors so the rear vision is handled by a rear view camera on its tail light relaying images to a screen mounted in the dash board.

In 2008, Marine Turbine Technologies Inc. released the "Streetfighter," another jet-bike with a more powerful 420-horsepower (310 kW) engine.

Too pricy but a different innovation in motorcycle technology and it sounds like a jet flying on the road. On the other end I think this is one an ultimate flying machine on tarmac.
