Finally a new Pulsar rolls out from Bajaj auto. After celebrating a decade of success from the Pulsar series, an entire new bike has been developed & revealed which has no similarities to its existing predecessors. New technology, new design and lot of new innovations in the new Bajaj Pulsar 200NS. This bike has been unveiled in the New Delhi auto expo before a couple of months ago. A good attempt made by Bajaj auto to compete itself with the upcoming performance bikes from the Japanese rivals. Lets see what's new in the new baby from the Pulsar family.
The chassis is a new perimeter frame, which distributes the bike's weight evenly, hence it provides better stability and handling. It is also the first bike in the Pulsar series to be equipped with a Nitrox gas-charged mono suspension with a rectangular swing arm. The Chassis and the suspension are entirely new of its kind.
The next notable feature is the engine, and it is also the first motorcycle to use a new triple-spark technology. Equipped with 199.5 cc, SOHC, liquid-cooled, Triple spark-plug engine churning out 23.52 ps of power @ 9500 RPM with a maximum torque of 18.3Nm @ 8000 RPM. The first bike in the pulsar series to use a liquid cooled engine and triple spark technology. The main difference between ,the Duke 200 and Pulsar 200NS is the fuel delivery system. KTM 200 employs a fuel injected DOHC layout whereas the Pulsar uses SOHC layout with Mikuni UCD33 carburettor.
The major advantage of liquid cooling is that it provides better engine cooling and the performance remains constant even at higher RPM's. It is also the fourth bike launched in India with a liquid cooled engine besides its competitors KTM Duke 200, Yamaha YZF-R15 and Honda CBR 250. Plus it also uses a four-valve design and six-speed transmission for better performance.
Bajaj rolled out their Pulsar models with its patented technology using twin spark plugs called the DTS-i (Digital Twin Sparkplug- ignition) technology before a couple of years ago in their previous models. Now its their time again to use a new spark-plug technology called the triple-spark. The triple-spark technology uses 3 spark plugs under the control of an advanced ECU to burn fuel effectively and efficiently. The company acclaims a tested mileage of above 50kmpl for the NS version making it to gain both power as well as mileage.
The new Pulsar 200NS is also loaded up with Bybre brakes- The world leader in brake technology (subsidiary of Brembo). Both front and rear wheels are equipped with disc brakes. No doubt the brakes are always excellent as per the existing pulsar versions.
The centrally mounted exhaust design similar to the KTM Duke, minimizes the centre of gravity and maximizes the stability. 8-spoked alloy wheels provides a new feel of look. An all new speedo console was neatly equipped with a centered tacho. This bike has a Naked Sport (NS) design (without a full cowl like R15) purely enhances its look as a street fighter. The price of the bike is tagged between 90-95k (ex-showroom, Pune) very decently, which definitely comes close to 110k on-road.

A good bike that has lot of new technological upgrades. A stylish, power-packed, feature filled, fun to ride street fighter for less than a lakh is quite impressive.
