Fully synthetic engine oil - Advantage & Benefits.

There are 3 types of motor oil or engine oil used for the lubrication of engine. Engine oil is the most vital and essential one for an engine to function properly. The three types in general are mineral oil - derived from petroleum based products, fully synthetic - completely artificial and synthesized in labs. semi-synthetic- a blend of synthetic and mineral oil in definite proportions.

Generally an engine oil has many benefits like lubricating the engine, carries away the heat produced during operation, reduces friction, wear and tear of the internal components and keeping the engine clean, free from sludge combustion and carbon deposits.

Here we are going to see about the fully synthetic motor oil of brand Motul. Motul is one of the largest lubricant company in the world. It specializes in the production of fully synthetic motor oils and best in class lubricants for all automobiles. A fully synthetic motor oil or engine oil are widely used in high performance motorcycles and cars. The main advantage of using a fully synthetic engine oil is that it maintains its stability and viscosity (thickness) even at very high temperatures. Hence it protects engine and its components during high speeds and long run. Superbikes in the world like Yamaha R1, Suzuki Hayabusa and MotoGp racing bikes, high performance cars use fully synthetic engine oils.

Motul has two types of fully synthetic oil based on their viscosity grades, Motul 300v factory line 10W40 and 15W50. So people who prefer high performance, racing and prolonged top speed riding can use it. I personally insist Motul since i've been using it right now on my Karizma R. Really the engine now feels very smooth, superb acceleration and no overheating. All HeroHonda bikes including Karizma R and ZMR now use a 10W30 grade oil as per the OEM* specification. It's better to choose it according to the viscosity grade close to the OEM* specifications of our rides. So therefore now I am using Motul 10W40 fully synthetic. But remember, only use fully synthetic oils after 5000 kilometres to get full benefits and to prevent glazing of engine bore.

Motul has other range of mineral and semi-synthetic engine oils. But only the synthetic and semi-synthetic oils are being imported.

Fully synthetic engine oils provides better engine protection than any other type of motor oils. The only disadvantage is the cost. The cost of a fully synthetic oil is high. The Motul 300V factory line costs around 885 INR / l in Chennai.

The advantages of using a fully synthetic oil is that it provides better engine performance, less engine heating, improved acceleration and more interval of oil change. It lasts longer than mineral and part synthetic oils.

Important thing to be noted is, a fully synthetic engine oil is little volatile, hence we have to check oil level periodically and top up has to be done if required. Bike enthusiasts and performance lovers can rely totally on this. I really assure that its really worth the price you put on.

For karizma R and ZMR the best oil which i can suggest is Shell Advance Ultra 10w40 grade fully synthetic. It costs around 750 INR. Provides much better results than Motul with a lesser price tag.

Castrol power 1 grade has been changed which is 10w50 and is best suited for all the pulsars apart from Motul.

Mobil 1 is the best fully synthetic engine oil available in the market. I never tried it so far but its too pricy. 1 liter costs around 1050 Rs. So its a personal choice whether to use it or not.

So anyhow always stick close to OEM specifications while selecting an after market engine oil for your vehicle to get the best performance out of it.
