Midship - Middle of the ship. The muffler is placed in the middle and close to the engine.

For maximum stability the centre of gravity should be low as possible. In a motorcycle the engine weight is purely responsible for maintaining stability as it is the heaviest component in a motorcycle, apart from that the position of the muffler plays a great role because it is one among the heavier components of the bike.

 

The midship muffler is placed exactly at the point of center of gravity where the entire weight of the bike is concentrated. So the stability and cornering can be increased to a greater extent, which makes handling of bike very sporty and easy.Moreover the construction of the muffler is very short when compared to other types.

The end of exhaust part is made light by using fiber components. so it's entirely a new design which provides a distinct look in Yamaha FZ16 and FZ-S series bikes.
