If you consider buying an used bike...

As the prices of new bikes seem to soar, many of us would like to buy an used bike which may be a good deal for our need and daily usage. This thought is mostly prevalent among middle class groups since the price of good bikes exceeds more than their budget. Yeah, the bike which you end up buying should serve you better without any problems and has to last longer. So here are some facts and suggestions that you should notice before buying up an used bike.



* Before buying an used bike ensure that its not a stolen bike since lot of bikes in the used up market are stolen. So the chances are high to get a stolen bike if you are not aware of it. Always ensure that the paint of the bike has not been changed partially or completely. If so,then you can guess that it might be a stolen one or caught up with problems like accidents and other issues.

* The year of manufacture and the year of registration are the other important factors that a buyer has to ensure before buying.

*  Do an inquiry about the market price of the bike which you are planned to buy. This may help you to decide the maximum price that you can afford and also help you to bargain.

* It is always better to buy a bike which is a few years old rather than buying up an outdated one since there arises a problem of maintenance and availability of spares.

* Ask to your friends and relatives who already own a bike which you had planned to buy regarding its performance and mileage figures, so that you may have some more ideas.

* If you have a trusted mechanic ask him to come along with you to test the condition of the bike and get to know about its spares, service and maintenance costs before buying it.

* A closer look provides more details, hence give a more detailed look to the body panels, headlight, levers, bearing functions in handle bars and wheel rotation to see any damage or repair is being carried out. This may help to bargain the ride for a lower price.

* It is important to see if there is any major modification is being carried out in bike, especially to increase the performance of engine like bigger jets in carburetor, change of air filters, bigger engine bore and exhausts.

*And finally ensure that all the necessary documents are valid and perfect in shape. It is wise to avoid buying a bike without a proper documents.
